Spellbound Theatre is New York's award-winning theater devoted to creating original,
​multi-disciplinary performances for very young audiences.

We believe that young people deserve sophisticated and innovative art experiences and are constantly inspired by the complex and imaginative world of young children.

June Programming Highlight: Sensory Friendly Free Family Art Day at Ulmer Park Library

“The message of the play [The Naughty Penguin] was well expressed and taught to the children!”  “Our family really appreciates your efforts. Thank you for giving back to the community.” - Feedback from the caregivers who attended "A Penguin Party" Free Family Art Day at Ulmer Park Library on Saturday, June 29. 

This sensory friendly event included:
  • A chill out zone - A separate area in the library where you can hang out if you need a break from the craft activity or the performance.
  • Sensory toys - There will be sensory toys and fidgets including headphones in the chill out zone and in the performance area.

  • A moment to talk through the show before we begin - Before the performance starts we will talk through the show and introduce the puppets.

Spellbound Lately...

“My children enjoyed mirroring the gestures. I really appreciate that there’s now a Mandarin version of this show," said a happy parent who attended our first ever performance of Stand Clear of the Closing Doors, Please in Mandarin at University Settlement. Shoutout to ensemble member Claire Hsu for making her Spellbound debut at such a special Free Family Art Day!
