Week 9: I Love Me

What do you think of when you hear your favorite rhyme? Does it make you feel good inside? In Spellbound Theatre’s Pop-Up show, A Book of Hours, the family ends a fun-filled day by being tucked into bed with a nursery rhyme. This week we want to nourish the youngest generation of Black people in our community with these bedtime activities. The creators of these experiences are people of color and the art they were inspired by was also created by people of color. We hope this inspires you and your little one to Love You.

Week 8: Letters to Little Ones

This week’s activity is designed only for the grown-ups! Take a moment to write a letter to the children in your life. This is an opportunity to explain what is going on in the world right now, convey the power and resilience of those who are fighting for a better one, and share your own dreams for the future. To support your writing experience, we have provided two peaceful tracks from one of our shows.

Week 7: Black Music Month

This week we’re celebrating Black Music Month! Inspired by our show Shakespeare’s Stars, a sensory installation for 0-2s, families can design their own tambourines. Then use your creation to jam along with our playlist of tunes by Black artists.

Week 6: Black Lives Matter

As protests carry on globally calling for a more just world for Black and Indigenous people of color, your family can find ways to participate at home. Here are some resources available online for discussions, books, and activities to share with your children.

Week 5: What Can Your Body Do?

The World Inside Me takes you on a journey exploring and celebrating the inner life of our growing bodies. How can your body move? What sounds does it make? How does it feel? In this weeks’ activities you get to mirror a loved one and listen to the music inside you.

Week 4: Seeds, Sprouts, and Sunshine

How does your garden grow?
Grow! explores the life cycle of an apple tree. From seed, to flower, to fruit, we see our tree change throughout the seasons.
Did you know you can grow a tiny garden on your windowsill?

We are offering these resources for free, but they are not free to produce. We are prioritizing a portion of our reserve funds to pay artists who are working on these projects from home. You can support our artists by making a tax-deductible donation to Spellbound, 100% of which will go directly to the people working behind the scenes (and on Zoom screens) to create these new resources for our new world.
