A baby’s first smile. A child’s first steps. Sometimes the littlest in our lives are proof of life’s greatest wonders. This multi-sensory, multi-disciplinary performance installation creates a dreamy world of poetry, music and magic to explore the infinite and the intimate, just for children ages 0 – 3 and their caregivers. Bond together under the stars to the sounds of Shakespeare’s poetry, twinkling music and innovative performances about fate, family and the celestial realm. Bringing The Bard’s best lines about the cosmos to life with starlit props, musical instruments and mesmerizing movement, this gentle show reminds us that “we are such stuff as dreams are made on.” This multi-sensory, multi-disciplinary performance installation creates a dreamy world of poetry, music, and magic to explore the infinite and the intimate, just for children ages 0-3 and their caregivers. Spellbound had the privilege of being a New Victory LabWorks Artist from 2018 to 2020 to devise and test this magical show for 0 – 3-year-olds and their caregivers. The project is being brought back to life as Lauren Jost (Spellbound’s former Artistic Director and the show’s Director), Rebecca Gerrard (Line Producer and initial Assistant Director) and Valerie Reid (Set Designer) prepare to finish what they started.
