Lullaby Land is Spellbound's newest theatre experience for young audiences in progress. The team has officially completed two phases of devising this piece and we are now fundraising to push this multicultural, vibrant, dreamy adventure to the next phase of development. This project has grown from a web-series in 2020 to a breathtaking experience for young people in the devising room, but Spellbound has big dreams to bring this project to stages accessible to young people everywhere. Read on to learn about devising phase 1, devising phase 2 and the original web-series!

Lullaby Land has been featured in TYA Today!
"Producer Jody Doo dives deep into what it means for Spellbound Theatre to actively incorporate anti-racist work into TVY and how as theater makers, we can start children on a journey to embrace and celebrate diversity through multilingual productions."
Explore Devising Phase 2
During the second phase of devising, members of the original team reconvened to enhance the piece. Spellbound was lucky enough to incorporate the expertise of artist Dorothy James, a skilled puppeteer, to craft innovative and versatile puppets, breathing new life into the project and adding an element of adventure to the experience. Special thanks to University Settlement for giving us the space to bring the next steps of this project to life.

Lullaby Land: The Web-Series
"Spellbound put together a team of 6 ensemble members, a director, a sound designer, a video editor and a producer to create 6 digital episodes with the series being titled Lullaby Land. The concept is simple – each episode is in a different language, a lullaby that soothes the performer to sleep." - Jody Doo, Lullaby Land Producer and author of TYA Today Magazine article, Incorporating Anti-Racist Work into TVY: Spellbound Theatre devises Lullaby Land
Lullaby Land started out as a web-series born out of Spellbound's anti-racist theater committee during the pandemic in 2020. Every episode features a different culture, language and lullaby to help soothe young children to sleep. |
