Performer/Teaching Artist and Stage Manager
About the Company:
Spellbound Theatre is a national leader in theater for the very young. For thirteen years, Spellbound has created original, multidisciplinary performances designed to delight, educate, and inspire New York’s youngest audiences and their families. Spellbound produces original works for 0-5 year olds and provides early childhood education programs and community events for young children. Spellbound Theatre is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
TEACHING ARTIST/PERFORMER
We are seeking a Spanish speaking Performer/Teaching Artist to perform Spellbound’s pop-up shows and lead workshops in schools, libraries, museums and other community based venues throughout New York City.
Experience & Skills
- Fluency in Spanish and English and ability to perform comfortably in both languages
- Experience working in theater for young audiences and working as a teaching artist is highly preferred
- Experience working with children ages 0-5 is preferred
- Experience working with neurodiverse audiences and puppetry experience is a plus
- Great communication skills when interacting with other performers/teaching artists, company producers and venue staff
Spellbound’s current Teaching Artist and Performer rates are:
Rehearsal $25/h
Teaching Artist Workshops $75/h
Performances $100-$150 per performance

STAGE MANAGER
We are seeking a Stage Manager to work on a variety of small scale performances that tour to schools, libraries, museums and other community based venues throughout New York City.
Responsibilities, Experience & Skills
- Transporting small scale sets to and from the performance venue from our storage in Gowanus
- Complete set up and breakdown of the set and running sound cues during the performance
- Experience with QLab and/or Go Button
- Great communication skills when interacting with the performers, audiences, company producers and venue staff
- Bilingual or experience working in multilingual environments is a plus
Spellbound’s current SM rates are:
Rehearsal $25/h
Performances $75-$125 per performance
