The local paper announces our big 2014-15 Residency at the New Victory Theater.

The New Victory Theater, a house known for its presentation of works for children and families, also runs an artists’ residency program, New Victory LabWorks, now in its second year. It gives playwrights, performers and artists in other disciplines rehearsal space and support while they assemble new works for children. During the 2014-15 season, LabWorks will host 10 projects and companies, the theater announced on Monday.

They include Taylor Mac’s “The Fre” and a work by the Civilians, “The Abominables,” both of which were commissioned by the Children’s Theater Company of Minneapolis, as well as “The Light Princess,” by Lila Rose Kaplan and Mike Pettry.

The other residents and projects include CollaborationTown’s “Rise and Fall of the Trilobite Kingdom”; James Ortiz’s version of “A Christmas Carol,” with life-size puppets and music; the Dead Puppet Society’s “Laser Beak Man”; Full Circle Souljahs “Outside the Bachx,” which combines the music of Bach, hip-hop, beatboxing and ballet; the Acrobuffo’s “Air Play”; Spellbound Theater’s “Ears, Nose and Tail,” a multimedia piece with puppets, animation and interactive projection, and “Elska,” a work by Shelley Wollert, Allen Farmelo and Lucas Segall.
